Over 400 arrested in operations west of Pretoria

During the operation, 15 illegal shebeens in Olievenhoutsbosch were closed down in an effort to deal with the generators of crime.

More than 400 people were arrested by the Tshwane West cluster police during multi-disciplinary operations.

The cluster comprises nine police stations – Atteridgeville, Erasmia, Laudium, Hercules, Olievenhoutsbosch, Pretoria Central, Pretoria West, Wierdabrug and Wonderboompoort.

Spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said during the operation, 15 illegal shebeens in Olievenhoutsbosch were closed down in an effort to deal with the generators of crime.

“Suspects were arrested for various crimes including murder, attempted murder, possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of unlicensed firearms, dealing and possession of drugs and dagga, rape, theft, attempted hijacking among others,” she said.

Selepe said 450 suspects were arrested and were expected to appear in different courts on Monday.
