NEWSFLASH: Armed robbers hit north fast food outlet
The manager was assaulted during the robbery.
A popular fast food franchise at a shopping centre north of Pretoria was robbed on Monday morning.
“The robbers walked into the Chicken Licken around 09:10,” police spokesperson Constable Matsobane Mabusela said.
The two masked men allegedly walked into an office where manager Sipho Shongwe was counting the float.
“They pointed a gun at him and instructed him to open the safe,” he added.
Shongwe confirmed he was assaulted but was “not really harmed”.
“They took an undisclosed amount of money and left,” Matsobane said.
“Though Shongwe was said to be shaken, he was unharmed.
“We are investigating a case of robbery,” he said.
Matsobane could not confirm claims by a social media user who posted five men were involved, R11 000 was taken and the men got away in a VW Golf GTi.
