Be careful of bogus fieldworkers – metro

Tshwane metro has warned homeowners not to allow bogus fieldworkers into their homes as the metro carries out an asset verification process.
The metro appealed to residents in a statement on Tuesday to cooperate with officials who will be conducting verification of municipal assets but warned they must be cautious.
MMC for finance councillor Mare-Lise Fourie said residents must not allow fieldworkers into their private properties.
“The fieldworkers will not conduct door-to-door evaluations. Therefore residents should be cautious not to be defrauded by bogus fieldworkers.”
The aim of this initiative is to provide the metro with an accurate record of assets it owns, metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said.
The immovable assets include land, properties, roads, electricity and water systems, and infrastructure.
All private and public entities are required to conduct an annual physical count of all fixed assets to verify actual assets in hand and value and ensure the accuracy of related financial records.
Bokaba said this process would take a few months.
“This process, which is conducted by Akhile consortium on behalf of the metro, is already underway and will take a couple of months to wrap up, covering all seven regions.”
Akhile consortium has employed 120 Tshwane residents as fieldworkers to carry out the work.
