UPDATE: Mystery surrounds death of three family members in Laudium

The three were declared dead inside their shack and had no visible injuries.

An inquest docket has been opened after three family members were found dead at Itereleng informal settlement in Laudium on Friday.

Laudium police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe said on Tuesday that circumstances surrounding the deaths were still sketchy.

“We are waiting for a post-mortem report which will reveal what happened to the family.”

The bodies of the mother and the father were found lying on the floor while a third body, an infant, was discovered in the bedroom, police said earlier.

The three were declared dead at the scene and had no visible injuries.

According to residents, the family were Zimbabwean nationals but police could not confirm this.
