NOTICE: Pretorians advised to buy prepaid electricity

"TheTshwane metro’s computer systems will be off for a greater part of the weekend."

Pretoria residents were advised to buy prepaid electricity by 12:30 on Saturday.

According to a statement from Icity Connector (ICT), the Tshwane metro’s computer systems will be off for the greater part of the weekend following a long awaited upgrade.

The metro’s network core switches wil be upgraded at the Centurion datacentre, it said in a statement.

“The new fibre switches to be installed will include port capacity increases and licences for a better datacentre network management and performance,” they said.

“During the upgrade, all network-related services in the Centurion data centre will be interrupted.”

ICT said the scheduled downtime for the upgrade would run from 13:00 on Saturday to 15:00 on Sunday.

“In addition, the metro’s internet service provider, SITA, has notified them of another upgrade at their datacentre,” they said.
