A child was seriously injured when a hijacked vehicle collided with a BMW in Nellmapius on Friday evening, police said.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said a man with two children were travelling in a BMW when they collided with a mini truck on Love Drive around 19:00.
It is believed the mini truck was hijacked.

Breedt said the injured child had to be transported per helicopter to a hospital in Johannesburg.
High Risk Unit’s medical head, Gareth Pahl, said that upon his arrival on the scene he found various medical services treating the patients.
“I assessed a child that had been in the back seat, unrestrained, and found that the child’s situation was life threatening,” he said.

“I dispatched Halo One, an emergency medical services helicopter.”
Rekord earlier reported that stun grenades were used to ensure that the helicopter landed safely. The information was supplied by a security company.
According to police, a ground flare grenade was used to light the landing spot for the helicopter.

Breedt said the driver and the other child in the vehicle were treated for their injuries on the scene.
The ages of the children was still unknown at the time of going to press.
Breedt added that the 24-year-old driver of the mini truck was arrested for being in the possession of a stolen vehicle and carjacking.

The man had a broken leg and was taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
