DA ward councillor of the area, Johan van Buuren told Rekord on Sunday that he was aware of the hole.
He said that the necessary people were on the scene and more experts were on their way to determine if it was a sinkhole.
“It could also be erosion due to a pipe that burst,” he said.
Van Buuren urged residents and motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

“The road has been closed and until we know what exactly caused the hole, it remains a danger area,” he said.
There were no indications as yet of when the road would be fully reopened and safe to use.
The Tshwane metro police was not available for comment at the time of going to press.
