A total of 66 suspects were arrested over the weekend in the Tshwane central policing cluster, police said on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the suspects were arrested for various crimes following crime prevention operations in the seven policing precincts that form the cluster.

He said the operations were focused on property-related crimes, drug-related crimes, unlicensed firearms and offences under the road traffic act such as driving under the influence of drugs.
“This resulted in 66 suspects being arrested, of which 34 were for drug-related crimes,” he said.

“Police officers made their presence felt in the seven police precincts setting up roadblocks, stop-and-search operations and information-driven searches.”
Breedt said the Tshwane central policing cluster and other law enforcement agencies were committed to combating crime in the cluster and will continue with similar operations to ensure that there will be heightened police visibility in problematic areas.

He said all those who were arrested will appear in the Hatfield Community and Pretoria Magistrates courts, respectively, on Monday.
