A man was arrested for burning his partner to death while a reservist constable was arrested for extortion.

About 350 people were arrested in various operations across parts of Pretoria in the past week, according to police.

They were arrested for various offences, including fraud, corruption, extortion, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs, rape, assault, possession of illegal firearms and armed robbery amongst others.

“Among the arrests were a man who was held for burning his partner to death in Laudium, while a reservist constable and three community patrollers were arrested for corruption and extortion in the CBD,” said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

Selepe said the arrests were made through raids, arrest warrants, roadblocks, stop and search and foot patrols.

Several illegal liquor outlets were shut down in Wierdabrug, Olievenhoutsboch and Atteridgeville.
