Cable snag leaves parts of Pretoria in the dark

Various parts of Pretoria were affected by power interruptions on Thursday due to cable problems.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said technicians were attending to two cable faults that led to a power supply interruption in Kilnerpark, Weavind Park and part of Queenswood on Thursday morning.

“It is anticipated that the repairs will be completed and power supply restored by 17:00 this afternoon,” said Mashigo.

Meanwhile, a switching team has been dispatched on site to investigate the cause of a power failure affecting Lotus Gardens.

Mashigo said it was not yet known when power supply to Lotus Gardens would be restored.

“Residents will be kept abreast about the estimated restoration time.

Affected customers were urged to SMS the word “POWER” followed by the account number to 082 612 0333 or 44676.

Alternatively, call 080 111 1556 or 012 358 9999 then choose the electricity option.
