Atteridgeville teenager arrested for grandfather’s death

The 78-year-old was found dead inside his locked house.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his grandfather in Atteridgeville.

Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said a 78-year-old man was found dead on Tuesday around 13:00 in his house.

“He was last seen on Saturday. When the community went to his house on Tuesday, they found the house locked from the inside. The door was broken to gain entrance and the old man was found lying on the bed.”

Msimango said paramedics certified him dead.

“Further investigations led to the questioning and arrest of his grandson who stays in a back room of the house. The motive for his death is not yet established and investigations continue. ”
