Four men arrested in Olievenhoutbosch within hours of robbery
The armed men robbed a supermarket and fled with a number of items including cigarettes and airtime.
Four men were arrested within hours of robbing a supermarket in Olievenhoutbosch on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said Sunrise Supermarket in extension 37 was robbed at 8:00.
“The suspects entered the shop and pointed a firearm at the shop owner,” said Msimango.
“They robbed him of cash, airtime, cellphone and cigarettes all worth R9 600 before they fled the scene in a silver Toyota Avanza.”
Msimango said an investigation led to the identification of the getaway vehicle and the four robbers were arrested.
All stolen items were recovered and the vehicle was seized.
An unlicensed firearm with 12 rounds of ammunition was also recovered from the suspects.
Msimango said the men, aged between 18 and 25, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
