UPDATE: Detective bids Villieria goodbye on positive note

The Moot detective who brought the murderers of a retired colleague to justice is over the moon about their conviction.
Estelle Reddy (36), her boyfriend Gerhardus Pienaar Papenfus, Kevin Johnson (29) of Eersterust were found guilty of the murder Danie Dreyer on 22 May.
The case against the fourth Ruvan Regionald Furst accused was postponed to September for medical reasons.

Investigating officer and Villieria’s Detective Constable Mokwena Mojapelo told Rekord on Wednesday that he had spent many hours to bring the guilty to justice.
“From the moment I left the scene, I had done everything in my power to do what needed to be done,” he said.
Mojapelo said Reddy and Furst handed themselves into the police while Papenfus and Johnson were arrested.
Asked if he was happy about the convictions, Mojapelo said: “I am over the moon…I have wanted a successful conviction for such a long time.”
Mojapelo joined the Villieria police station as a student in 2007 before moving to the flying squad the following year.
“While at the flying squad, I felt that my business was not completely finished in Villieria,” he said.
“Which is why I returned in 2010.”
He said he joined the detective division later that year.
Villieria police spokesperson, Capain Coba Brits described Mojapelo as a dedicated detective.
“He always goes the extra mile to make sure a criminal is brought to justice,” she said. “He’s supportive of the victims and their families and shows them the utmost respect.”
But Mojapelo will leave Villieria precinct for the provincial detective division at the beginning of next month.
“I am very positive about the police and their role in the society,” he said urging residents to place their trust in the police.
“With a positive attitude, our job is made much easier.”
