East illegal trading clampdown

An operation to clamp down on the prevalent illegal trade in Faerie Glen saw fines being issued and goods confiscated from traders.
Ward 44 councillor, Ernst Botha said though he had sympathy for people who were forced into trading illegally in the streets because they couldn’t find a job, bylaws had to be enforced.
During the Tshwane metro police operation, officers confiscated and issued fines to illegal traders in Faerie Glen.
“It is important that everyone plays a role in bylaw enforcement so we can have a cleaner environment, at the moment the problematic part is Atterbury and efforts to correct this in the form of operations are underway,” said Botha.
He called on residents, security companies, CPF and the SAPS to police bylaw transgressions and report noncompliance to bylawenforcementcentre@tshwane.gov.za or customercare@tshwane.gov.za.
