UPDATE: Manhunt for north man’s murderer
Lichtenburg police are looking for a man in connection with the murder of Francois Swart.
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Florauna shooting victim Francois Swart.
However, North West police said they were also looking for another man (pictured) they think could assist them with their murder-robbery investigation.
“Anyone with information is requested to contact their nearest police station or contact Lieutenant Colonel Mokotedi on 082-416-1638,” said police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh.
Swart’s mother, Kristi Van Rooyen, had previously told Rekord how the 21-year-old Swart was killed when he and a friend stopped at a Lichtenburg petrol station for drinks on 9 May.

“While waiting for their turn to pay, they noticed two men arguing with the cashier. One turned around, walked straight to my son and shot him twice at close range in the neck without saying anything,” she said.
Swart died a few weeks after the incident after being kept in a medically induced coma at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
He was laid to rest last Thursday in Florauna in the north of Pretoria.
