Man arrested for hijacking, dozens nabbed for other crimes in Pta
More than 25 persons were arrested over the weekend in the city centre during a crime prevention operation.
A crime prevention swoop in central Pretoria netted 27 suspects at the weekend, including an alleged car hijacker.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola the alleged hijacker, a 26-year-old man, was arrested for the possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle in Marabastad.
“We can’t divulge at this stage where exactly was it stolen as the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
He said the other suspects were arrested for various crimes, including assault, theft, possession of drugs, and drunken driving.
Lamola said all the suspects were expected to appear in court this week.
