The owner of a car allegedly implicated in the hit-and-run accident in which a Centurion teenager was killed, will appear in court on 2 August.
Police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said a J175 summons had been issued by the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court, formally charging the owner of the VW Golf 6 as a suspect.
“If the accused does not appear in court, an immediate arrest can be executed,” said Huma.
This comes after parents of the teenager, Anita and Sergei Greyvenstein, combined efforts with the Wierdabrug police and followed up on information, leading them to the owner of the Golf 6.

Their son Ruan Viljoen was killed in a hit-and-run accident on 19 March last year, two weeks before his 19th birthday.
His body was found in the centre median along the N14 highway by ER24 paramedics.
An autopsy report confirmed Viljoen died instantly when his neck and back were broken.
“Our son died an excruciatingly painful death and was left there on the side of the road,” said Anita.
The Greyvenstein family hired a private investigator and launched their own investigation into their son’s death.
Anita said all the evidence was handed over to the police in a bid to boost their investigation.
The family also offered a reward of R50 000 to anyone with information that could lead to their son’s killer.
After months of searching, the vehicle was found.
Debris found on the crime scene allegedly indicated that the car involved was a VW Golf 6.
