Cable theft left large parts of Soshanguve without power on Friday.
At least 12 blocks were affected, said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
Technicians were by lunchtime busy with repairs at Blocks AA, G and F, where power was expected to be restored by 17:30.

It was not immediately clear when the supply would return in the other areas that were hit. They are blocks P, R, S, SS, KK, MM, Y, T and V.
Mashigo said power in the second group of blocks went out when two main feeder cables were stolen between Soshanguve and Rietgat substations.
Mashigo apologised on behalf of the metro for the inconvenience and pleaded with affected residents to allow the metro’s technical team to conduct their work unhindered.
“All electrical points should be treated as live at all times,” he said.
