Sunnyside mall sewers unblocked

"This matter was treated with top priority."

The sewage leak that caused the flooding of the Sunnypark shopping centre last week has been repaired.

“I can confirm that the blockage has been repaired and that the area is safe,” said centre spokesperson Christopher Hutchings.

Rekord had received reports the centre was flooded by sewage and this was not being fixed.

“The centre has been flooded for 10 days and the centre management has not done anything,” an anonymous source claimed.

The source alleged that delivery trucks were driving through the pool of sewage.

“That’s impossible, the road was blocked off,” Hutchings said.

He stated that the centre had ensured that the road was blocked off to ensure that no one came in contact with the sewage.

Rebosis Property Fund will never compromise on the health and safety of our tenants and shoppers – this matter was treated with top priority,” he added.

Hutchings extended his gratitude to the teams that unblocked the sewers.

“I would like to thank the teams who worked tirelessly to repair the blockage.”
