Renovations at a park in the west of Pretoria have been brought to a temporary halt.
The Sinovich dam, better known as the Groen dam in Daspoort, has become a thorn in the side for many residents over the years.
DA ward councillor Elma Nel said the delay follows after the previous municipal local executive head’s contract has not been renewed.

“The executive head had a visit to all the problem areas in my ward in February last year,” she said.
“After the visit, plans were in place to upgrade all the problem areas, of which the Groen dam was one of the places on the list.
“Because her contract was not renewed, we could not complete the plans.”
Although the renovations were suspended for now, Nel said that the municipality would still clean the park regularly.
She said that some vagrants who live in the park caused problems.
“They use drugs and commit crime in the area.”
The dam in Charl Cilliers Street has become a site for illegal dumping over the years.
