Pierre van Ryneveld, Irene residents warned about possible water supply interruptions
It was believed that the maintenance would improve water supply while also reducing future interruptions.
Residents of Pierre van Ryneveld and Irene might be without water on Tuesday 16 October.
This might result from maintenance work due to start at the Pierre van Ryneveld reservoir according to the Tshwane metro utility services department.
Metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said the pipeline which distributed water from the reservoir would also be upgraded.
Bokaba said while an interruption in water supply would “be avoided at all costs” residents might still find themselves without water between 08:00 and 20:00 on the day.
The affected areas included Pierre van Ryneveld, Irene and extension eight in Lyttelton Manor.
Some businesses and institutions including the Irene Village Mall and Aapstertjies pre-primary school might also be affected, according to Bokaba.
“The purpose of the work was to lessen unplanned maintenance and limit the possibility of a pipe burst,” said Bokaba.
It was believed that this would greatly improve water supply in the area while also reducing future interruptions.
The metro apologised for any inconvenience that might arise as a result of maintenance.
