East teachers celebrate special day
"Honour your role by doing a good job in the classroom."
Teachers in Mamelodi East celebrated Teachers Day by sharing good principles and strategies last Friday.
The event was organised by the Teachers of Mahlasedi Masana Primary School in Mamelodi East Phase 5 and held on the school premises.
Teacher and organiser, Busisiwe Masilela said Teachers’ Day was a special day for the appreciation of teachers.
“This is the second annual Teachers Day celebration and we are planning to host the event annually.”
“The official day for Teachers day is 5 October but they could not celebrate the special day because of the school holidays.”
Masilela said the celebration brought the teachers at the school together to share good principles and strategies.
“It is to encourage them to continue doing an excellent job.”
The school has 55 teachers including the Principal teaching more than 2 000 learners from Grade R to Grade 7.
The principal of the school, Robert Bashoga motivated the educators to keep inspiring the young learners and doing a good job of preparing them for the secondary level.
He said the teachers should continue to inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of teaching in the young.
Masilela said that the teachers inspired each other and that it was their responsibility to take care of the learners while their parents were at work during the day.
The learners of the school entertained the teacher by reciting poems to the teachers and teachers joined in in the singing.
Deputy Principal of the school, Hendrick Mtsweni encouraged the teachers to honour their role by doing a good job in the classroom and society.
