Large areas in Pretoria were left without power on Saturday morning following a storm on Friday night.
DA ward councillor Roelof Fourie said areas in Queenswood, Villieria, Lynwood and Menlo Park were affected by the power outage.
He said in Queenswood, the power outage was because of tree branches that had to be cut and cables that were off as a result of the storm on Friday.

In Villieria, the outage was caused by a Jacaranda tree that fell over.
Fourie said the tree, in Nico Smith Street, had not yet been removed at the time of going to press and advised motorists to be cautious when driving in the area.

It was still unclear what caused the power outage in Lynwood and Menlo Park.

Fourie said some of the areas were without power since 20:15 on Friday.
“All the power outages had been reported to the relevant departments in the Tshwane metro,” he said.
“If metro officials are not yet on the relevant scenes, they should arrive there soon.”
