Brooklyn police arrested 29 motorists for drunken driving over the weekend, it said.
The arrests were made during operations such as roadblocks and stop-and-searches, according to police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach.

Weilbach warned members of the public that “motorists who drive under the influence, not only commit a crime but can cause a serious car accident that could injure or kill other people”.
She said motorists should make alternative arrangements when they plan on having a few drinks.
“Rather use an app to arrange for a lift or make use of public transport or taxis,” she said.
“In a group, a designated driver can be chosen.”
In total, Brooklyn police made 48 arrests over the weekend.
Nine of them were for pedestrians being a potential source of danger.
Two arrests were for common robbery, one for theft and seven for shoplifting.
She said police will intensify operations and increase police presence and visibility in the Brooklyn policing precinct in the holiday season.
