Laerskool Derdepoort’s feeding scheme gives thanks

Laerskool Derdepoort’s feeding scheme held a thanksgiving event last week to acknowledge assistance offered throughout the year.
The event was attended by the police, parents, and benefactors of the school.
“We truly do not know what we would have done without you,” said school spokesperson Lizzette Badenhorst.
“If we needed something, we did not even have to ask and it was already given to us.”
Father Christmas also visited the school to hand out gifts to learners.
Villieria police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits, who also attended the event, said youngsters were a vital part of society and had to be protected.

“Which is why children at schools like Laerskool Derdepoort need to be educated from an early age,” she said.
Villieria police often visited schools to educate learners on crime and bullying.
“School-based crime prevention is intended to enrich the participation of police officers in promoting safe and orderly school environments.”
Brits said school safety was often a critical obstacle to learning.
“Crime, violence and abuse affect all aspects of our community, and schools are not always free from fear, intimidation or victimisation,” she said.
She said safety in schools was vital to a learners’ careers.

Brits said the CPF could play a vital and pivotal role in school safety as the structure was an ideal platform to address violence and crime in the community.
