A man was arrested in connection with theft at a cellphone tower in Moreleta Park on Saturday morning.
Bull security officers responded to a tip-off from its unit based at a nearby estate that indicated that two men had broken into the tower.
The security company’s operations manager French Jooste said the response team approached the men who abandoned the items they had allegedly stolen and attempted to get away.
“Our officers gave chase and managed to arrest one suspect,” he said.
“The other suspect unfortunately got away after running to Plastic View informal settlement.”

Jooste said theft at cellphone towers had been a big problem in the past three weeks where expensive equipment such as batteries and cables were stolen.
He said house break-in tools were recovered as well as expensive electricity cables and cell phone tower parts.
“The suspect was handed over to Garsfontein SAPS.”
