One robber was arrested after a shooting which left a man injured in the west of Pretoria on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe said the arrest was made through intelligence-driven police investigation.
It was alleged that two men and a woman entered a supermarket on Van der Hoff Road and Elsa Street in Pretoria West where they pointed the cashier with a firearm.

“Cigarettes valued R30 000, a cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money were taken during the robbery. The trio sped off in a white Impendulo Nissan minibus taxi with registration FZ 91 DZ GP. “
Chokoe said having witnessed the robbery, a community member gave chase and managed to block the suspects on the corner of Bremmer and Wilhelm streets in Hercules.

“It is alleged that a woman alighted from the taxi and shot at the victim through the windscreen. The victim was shot in the upper body.
“Following the shooting, the woman got back into the taxi and it sped off.
“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Chokoe said the minibus taxi was recovered in Mamelodi in few hours after the shooting. An unlicensed firearm and a cellphone were seized together with the taxi.
“A 27-year-old-man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen properties. The other two are still at large.
“We are pleading to anyone from the community with information which might lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward and report to the police without any fear,” Chokoe said, adding that police were investigating charges of business robbery and attempted murder.
