A resident recently took to social media in an attempt to warn others about muggings in the Moot.
The post was made on a Facebook group, saying that criminals were targeting shoppers at a shopping centre in Waverley.

“A woman was robbed of her handbag. People need to be careful,” the post read.
However, Villieria police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits said they were not aware of the incident.

“If a crime happens before or on a weekend, some residents only report it the following Monday,” she said.
Brits added, however, that crime in general usually increased this time of the year.

She urged residents to be vigilant and to always report crimes to the police.
