NEWSFLASH: Police searching for Moot hijackers

An unknown number of robbers fled the scene towards Capital Park with stolen goods from the vehicle.

The police are searching for an unknown number of robbers after an attempted hijacking of a vehicle in the Moot.

According to a reliable source, the attempted hijacking happened under the De Waal interchange bridge, close to the Capital Park low-water bridge around 18:20.

The source said that a man was shot and succumbed to his injuries, but police were unable to confirm this by the time of going to print.

Reports that the low-water bridge was closed following the alleged hijacking was false, the source said, but added that motorists should avoid the area.
