Drotské is still recovering in hospital.
After the attack on Drotské however, police had brought in two men for questioning the following day.
Makhubele said, however, there was not enough evidence to link the men with the crime and they were released.
Drotské was visiting his brother Tinus and his girlfriend Nadia Duvenage Jooste along with his friend and former colleague Jacobus Petrus “Os” du Randt.
The family and friends were about to have dinner when they were surprised by a group of armed men.

Ian Cameron, head of AfriForum’s community safety forum, said Drotské had fought bravely to protect his family and friends in the attack.
“Drotske stormed at the attackers when they entered the house and pushed them outside,” said Cameron.
The attackers opened fire on Drotské then.
As Du Randt rushed to his friend’s assistance, the armed men fled the scene and Drotské was rushed to hospital in Montana.
Drotské underwent a second surgery this week to remove pieces of shattered bone in his arm.
Fans and social media users shared messages and prayers wishing Drotské a speedy recovery.

The Kameeldrift area has been plagued by several attacks on smallholdings this year.
In September, resident Marlet Entres was killed in an attack on another smallholding where she, her husband, daughter and grandchild lived.
Her husband Manie had previously described how his wife was shot without provocation and their two family dogs gunned down by the ruthless killers.
Police had not had any success in apprehending anyone for Entres’ murder.
Robbers involved in shootings in were still being sought by police.
By this week no arrests have yet been made for these attacks.
