Two substations in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, were left without power supply after cable thieves struck on Monday morning.
Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba said the cables were stolen between the Soshanguve and Rietgat substations.
“Plans to replace the stolen cables are currently underway. Four medium-voltage cables were stolen.”

He said block P, R, S, T, Y, V, SS1 – SS5, SS extension, KK and MM were affected.
“Residents will be kept abreast of the expected restoration time,” Bokaba said.
He warned residents to treat all electrical points as live at all times.
Affected residents were urged to report power failures by SMS or phone call to the metro.
“SMS the word power followed by your account number to 082 612 0333 or 44676 or report the power failure to 012 358 9999 and choose the electricity option or 080 1111 556,” Bokaba said.
