An elderly man from the north of Pretoria was seriously injured following an attack on Thursday.
The attack happened around 02:00 in the morning, according to Pastor Lourens Taljaard.
“It is suspected that the criminals gained entry by opening the window and removing a burglar bar,” he said.
Taljaard said the elderly couple, Joost and Aletta Viljoen of Haakdoornboom, were overpowered in their bedroom.

Taljaard said Joost was taken to Steve Biko Academic hospital in a stable condition.
In a Facebook post by Irene Pelser, chairperson of Solidariteit Helpende Hand’s Akasia branch, she asked for residents’ help.
