Centurion woman cooking up a storm to inspire young women
“About four years ago I started sharing these recipes on social media.”
A local mother of two hopes that her love for wholesome home-cooked meals will inspire young women as her own mom had inspired her.
Irene Dasari is a self-taught home cook who lives with her husband, Logan Moonsammy, and their two sons, Cameron and Caiden, in Centurion.
“I had been working in the private sector but left to look after my mother, Esther Dasari,” said Dasari.
“She was the one who inspired me from a very young age and now it is my turn to take care of her.”
Dasari fondly remembers her mother’s most decadent and delicious meals made without any shortcut.
“She created divine recipes and also made everything from scratch. I was fascinated by her passion and talent and I was in awe of her.”

During her time working in the private sector, Dasari also wanted to find ways of spoiling her loved ones with bold-flavoured global and classic cuisine all within budget.
“About four years ago I started sharing these recipes on social media,” she said.
“The young ladies who were newly married were crazy about the recipes. That is where the request from several people came for me to create a cookbook.”
Dasari set out to create a cookbook unlike any other as it was aimed at empowering each person regardless of their age and experience to feel like a master chef in their own homes.

“I also believe in sharing everyday helpful hints and tips,” she said.
“It stems from my own mother’s loving encouragement to try and not be afraid of failing. That’s where my experimenting with bold flavours came from and my passion for the art of cooking and the science of baking was ignited.”
Dasari continues to create tasty dishes and hopes her cookbook will empower the residents of Centurion, South Africa and even international readers to make meals they can be proud of.
