Man hijacked, shot in Akasia
The seriously injured driver was transported to hospital by helicopter.
Police are hunting for two men who hijacked and shot a motorist in Orchards, north of Pretoria.
The hijacking victim was seriously wounded when the armed men swooped in on him in his white Toyota Corolla in Orange Street on Tuesday evening.
According to a source, the hijackers came out of a park on foot and started shooting at the driver.
Police spokesperson Captain Riana van Aarde confirmed the hijacking.
“The two suspects fled in the vehicle, leaving the victim behind. He was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter.”
A case of hijacking and attempted murder was being investigated, she said.
