Sassa warns public of internship scam
Due to the high number of job scams that have plagued Sassa in the past, the agency has resolved to only advertise vacancies in newspapers and on its website.

The South African social security agency (Sassa) has condemned a scam doing the rounds on social media inviting unemployed youths to apply for internships.
The advertisement requires that once the applicant has applied they should deposit R500 in order to secure the internship.
Sassa has urged the public to ignore the bogus advert as it was a scam and could put potential applicants at risk.
Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi strongly condemned the scam and placed it on record that the advert was in no way linked to the government agency.
Due to the high number of job scams that have plagued Sassa in the past, the agency has resolved to only advertise vacancies in newspapers and on its website.
“The public is advised to be wary and vigilant of any job recruiters who ask for money in order to secure a job post. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is not true. Also be suspicious if a recruiter asks you to click on links because this can lead to identity theft,” said acting Sassa CEO Abraham Mahlangu.
