A highly successful police operation was held in the Tshwane North cluster recently.
Police spokesperson Captain Mathews Nkoadi said the police were impressed with the operation’s results.
“Our members have continued to combat the scourge of crime within the parameters of the cluster,” said Nkoadi.
He said 577 people were arrested through various operations, including stop-and-searches.
“The cluster has vowed to leave no stone unturned [to] keep the streets free from criminal activity.”
Nkoadi said the arrested were charged with business robbery, house robbery, armed robbery, illegal railway crossing, shoplifting, prostitution, drunk driving, attempted murder, murder, rape, contravention of the Road Traffic Act, theft, theft of motor vehicle, theft out of a motor vehicle, carjacking, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of drugs and public violence.
The suspects would appear in the Moretele, Pretoria North, Ga-Rankuwa and Soshanguve magistrate’s courts, respectively.
