UPDATE: Centurion substation restored

There still might be residents without power.

To the relief of residents in Centurion, the Brakfontein substation has been restored.

This after residents were left without power after the substation was struck by lightning and caught fire on Friday evening during a violent storm

DA ward councillor Kingsley Wakelin said on Sunday that the substation was restored.

He added, however, that there were still areas without power due to possible trips at the individual substations units and or faults on the line.

“There is power on the grid,” he said.

He requested residents to provide authorities with reference numbers to enable them to identify areas that still needed to be attended to.

“We will send these through and will get a team to work through the list,” he said.

“Please just be a bit more patient as we will get through this.”
