One of two robbers – who shoved a Centurion pizza deliveryman off his scooter and took it – has been arrested while in hospital.
This after he was badly injured shortly after following an accident involving the hijacked scooter, according to Wiedabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma.
“Two weeks ago, the deliveryman went to a house in Frederick Street in Eldoraigne to deliver pizza. Upon arrival, he called the customer to collect his food as he was standing at the gate.
A few minutes later, he discovered his customers were not residing at the house. As he was about to leave, he was approached by two strangers.”

Huma said the two suspects ordered the deliveryman to stay quiet.
“The deliveryman screamed for help, but one of the men pulled out a knife and held it to his throat. The deliveryman tried to grab the knife, but cut his finger instead,” she said.
The two robbers then pushed him off the scooter and fled with it.
“The attackers were later involved in an accident in Olifantsfontein Road which left one suspect with serious injuries,” she said.
One suspect was later arrested in Tembisa hospital after he matched the description of the hijacker as given by the deliveryman, Huma said
“He has been placed under police guard and will appear in court as soon as he’s discharged.”
His accomplice is still on the run.
Huma warned fast foods outlets to be vigilant, especially when they send employees out to deliver food.
