Two suspects involved in a Boschkop kidnapping case have been denied bail pending further police investigations.
The two Mozambican nationals appeared in the Cullinan district court on Monday on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and robbery for allegedly kidnapping a countryman they accused of having affairs with their wives back home.
Police spokesperson Constable Yerobam Mbatsane said Adozindo Matsinho (18) and Romao (36) and eight others assaulted the victim in the bushes near Tembisa where they “left him for dead”.
Mbatsane said the victim was accosted while walking with his brother, who was chased away before the assault.
“The two of the eight suspects were arrested at Melrose informal settlement in Germiston, last Sunday.”
The court on Monday denied the two bail to allow the police to investigate further, and because they are foreigners.
Mbatsane said they would appear again on Tuesday, 2 April.
Station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Raymond Monyayi applauded the dedication of the detectives in solving the kidnapping case.
