Three people are expected to appear in court after their arrest following a violent protest in Atteridgeville on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said the trio were nabbed for public violence and are expected to appear in court soon.

“In the early hours of Monday, about 200 angry residents took to the streets to demand the municipality lower their rates in the township,” he said.

The Main routes in and out of Atteridgeville were barricaded with burning tyres and rocks.
The disgruntled residents said their grievances had fallen on deaf ears and demanded the mayor address them urgently on their complaints regarding electricity, water and other basic needs.

Earlier Atteridgeville police spokesperson Mapula Rikhotso said the residents also wanted to deliver a memorandum of their demands to the municipal offices.
