The Pretoria north farm where two people were shot during a farm attack on Monday evening has been targeted by criminals before.
Two rhinos were poached recently on the farm near Rust de Winter on Moloto Road, according to AfriForum head of community safety Ian Cameron.
The farm owner’s son Heinrich Nel (21) as well as the farm’s foreman, a 73-year-old man, were shot during Monday’s attack.

Cameron said four suspects attacked around 22:00.
“Three of them were armed with pistols and the other with a sawed-off shotgun,” he said.
“The foreman was shot in his upper leg and lost a lot of blood. Nel was shot in his chest and arm. The attackers proceeded to bind [sic] the two before shooting their small dog in front of them.”
They then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
“Nel later managed to free himself and alerted the authorities. That was around 04:00 the following day.”
