West police nab drug dealers

The first arrest happened in Danville after police received a tip-off from the community about a suspicious vehicle known to be used for drug dealing.

Pretoria West police had their hands full this week when they arrested three people for drug possession in the west of Pretoria.

The first arrest happened in Danville on Tuesday after police received a tip-off from the community about a suspicious vehicle known to be used for drug dealings, said police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma.

“During the patrol, the said vehicle was spotted (by police) at N4 Toll road next to Danville during a stop-and-search operation,” said Vuma.

“Upon searching, police found small packets of drugs in the driver’s pocket. More drugs were found in the car, adding to a total of 750 snatches which amounts to the street value of R22 500.”

The drugs were seized and the suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Pretoria West police station.

Vuma said the 43-year-old male will be appearing in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.

On Wednesday, the district crime prevention police received a tip-off during their patrol.

“The tip-off came from the crime intelligence unit of the SAPS, informing them to be on the look-out for a particular registration number of a white VW Polo Vivo,” Vuma added.

At about 17:40 on WF Nkomo Street near Sasol, police spotted the car fitting the description.

She said that the vehicle was searched and two bags containing dagga were seized.

“Two suspect (a 42-year-old woman and 27-year-old man) were arrested and is being detained at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.”
