“People take it very seriously. We even have two players who are a part of the club who have earned national colours.”

A group of avid bowlers from the Lynnwood Bowling club in the east started the 2019 South African Bowls Tournament on Saturday 11 May.

The tournament will be continuing until Saturday 19 May, with the winners announced on the same day.

“This is easily one of the biggest and most popular bowling clubs in Pretoria with a record number of 220 members,” says supporter on the day Mike Badenhorst.

“People take it very seriously. We even have two players who are a part of the club who have earned national colours.”

Approximately 21 districts around South Africa are involved with the Lynnwood Bowling Club, with seniors from all over competing.

“This type of tournament only takes place every five years in Pretoria, so people are very excited to participate,” said president of the Lynnwood Bowls Club Gert Delport.
