NOTICE: How presidential inauguration affects you – Pretoria street closures

Residents in affected streets will have to collect permits from Loftus Versfeld stadium in order to gain entry to the area.

Various Pretoria streets will be closed on Saturday, 25 May, for the presidential inauguration at Loftus Versfeld stadium.

Tshwane metro police anticipate more than 200 buses from all provinces will make their way to the venue.

Authorities will be controlling traffic and closing various roads in Soutpansberg and Hatfield.

“Roads will be closed from 15:00 on Friday, 24 May, to 22:00 on Saturday,” said metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

“Rietondale Park will be used as a park-and-ride area for invited guests. It will also be affected.”

Residents are urged to collect permits in order to use affected roads.

Permits can be collected from Friday, 17 May, to Wednesday, 22 May, between 09:00 and 18:00.

These can be collected at the reception area of Loftus Versfeld in Kirkness Street.

Residents in Rietondale must collect their permits at the Rietondale Park tennis club in Van Der Merwe Street.

Metro police and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed at all street closures and other affected streets,” said Mahamba.

“All residents and road users are urged to comply and work together with law enforcement officers to avoid any mishaps.”
