UPDATE: Attempted murder case of north cop postponed

Constable Peter Makota was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot and wounded a 17-year-old during an argument over why he and his friends sat across the road from his home.

The case against the attempted murder accused Pretoria North police officer has been postponed for further investigation.

Constable Peter Makota was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot and wounded a 17-year-old during an argument over why he and his friends sat across the road from his home.

“The argument was over why they were sitting there,” independent police investigative directorate spokesperson Moses Dlamini said.

After an apparent shouting match, Makota allegedly shot the boy in the shoulder as he walked away.

Dlamini said that the police watchdog was investigating the alleged shooting.

On Thursday, during his appearance in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court, Mokota’s R2 000 bail was extended until his next appearance on 19 July.
