Three armed men who allegedly hijacked a vehicle on Thursday were nabbed by Rietgat police on Thursday afternoon, while an armed suspect was arrested while trying to rob a man in Soshanguve.
Both arrests were as a result of tip-offs by community members.
In addition to the four arrests made, police recovered and confiscated three firearms with ammunition.
Rietgat station commander Brigadier Ramakamakama Johannes Kekana praised the community members who showed helped police.
He also lauded the police teams involved for their swift response.
“The arrest of these suspects should send a strong message to all criminals that fighting crime remains at the top of the provincial commissioner’s priorities. Nothing will distract the men and women in blue from protecting and serving the inhabitants of the republic.”
