The ongoing case against the two men arrested for a series of protests outside the Shepherd Bushiri church came to an abrupt end on Monday.
This as the state prosecutor withdrew the public violence and violation of a road traffic act charges against Kabelo Tladinyane and Kennedy Nemoshongwa.
The two were supposed to make their plea and receive their trial date on the day.
In the presence of the state witness, the prosecutor said although witnesses were available, he decided to withdraw the charges as he would encounter “problems” during the trial.
Tladinyane and Nemoshongwa were arrested in January after a series of protests outside the Enlightened Christian Gathering church.

The protests followed the deaths of three congregants and injury of 17 others when a stampede erupted during a service at the end of December 2018.
The two men, alongside third co-accused Prince Gcaba who later stopped attending court proceedings, were released on R500 bail each a few days after their arrest.
A warrant of arrest was issued for Gcaba when he failed to appear at a subsequent appearance, but was yet to be arrested.
