More than 60 suspects were arrested at an alleged east brothel to bring the number to 500 arrests made in various parts of Tshwane.
The operation was a joint massive operation comprising of various police units, Tshwane District Visipol, detectives, crime intelligence, Gauteng Traffic and Tshwane Metro police.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the operations were conducted through various methods including road blocks, stop-and- searches, patrols and tracing of wanted suspects.

“More than 500 suspects arrested emanate from intensive crime prevention operations that started in the early hours of Thursday, 4 July until Sunday, 7 July at various parts of Tshwane District,” said Selepe.
She said a search of a house in Faerie Glen was conducted following a tip-off from the community.
“Eight people were arrested on charges of operating a brothel.”
She said among the arrested were 65 suspects for various crimes such as murder, contempt of court, robbery and a violation of protection order.
She said a male suspect, aged 32, was also located in a house in the north of Pretoria and arrested.
Selepe said the items recovered during the search were live shotgun rounds, stun grenades, sound flash, smoke grenades, bullet resistant vests, and more.

“It is alleged that exhibits were stolen from present and past employees [of] G4S Security and Mafoko Security.”
“On Friday, eight road blocks were set up, led by SAPS Tshwane Senior Management, on main roads such as WF Nkomo, R55, R21, Solomon Mahlangu, Bronkhorspruit Road, Cullinan, R101 and R80.
“More than 3 500 vehicles and 7 500 people were searched, 486 vehicle tested, and 453 Aarto fines issued estimated at an amount of R350 000.”
She said 30 illegal immigrants, including 10 babies, were found in a taxi on the R21.
Selepe said on the R80, 594 sheep in-transit were checked to see whether some might have been stolen.
“Some of the arrested suspects have already appeared before different magistrate’s courts across Tshwane on various charges such as murder, attempted murder, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs, rape, robbery, house breaking, fraud and drunk driving.”
Tshwane district police commissioner Major General Mthombeni, said making these arrests had been crucial to “eliminating high volumes of offenders, keeping the Tshwane community and visitors safe”.
Mthombeni said it was essential for the police to target criminals causing the most harm with all resources at their disposal.
He further said more of these multi-disciplinary action in partnership with other law enforcement would continue.
