Bogus cops con north motorists

"One female fell into the trap and unfortunately paid the money to the perpetrator."

Police in the north of Pretoria have warned motorists against bogus police officers conning them out of thousands.

“Scammers pretending to be policemen would phone members of the public, claiming they could help them retrieve their stolen cars – if they paid R3 000,” said Akasia police spokesperson Lindiwe Mdluli

“Recently a woman fell for it and unfortunately paid them,” Mdluli said.

She advised the public not to fall for any scam, which requested money from them before services were rendered.

“Rather contact the station on 012-564-0700 to find out more on their reported cases,” Mdluli added.
