UPDATE: Reward for Zulu information

A cash reward of R25 000 is being offered to the person who can provide information to help bring Zulu's perpetrators to book.

There is still a long recovery ahead for Zulu, the horse that was dumped in a field near Cullinan last month.

“He is doing better by the day,” said Kobus Nel, inspector at the Wet Nose rescue centre.

Nel said Zulu has also started putting on weight.

“He is much perkier and even waits for his food at the gate,” Nel said.

Zulu’s wounds, which he got while lying in the field, were also being treated.

“His hooves have also since been trimmed,” Nel said.

Zulu was found on 25 June after an eyewitness phoned the Wet Nose animal rescue centre about a luxury SUV dumping the horse outside Cullinan, just off the road to Montana near a Zuluka billboard.

The centre has since announced on their Facebook page that a R25 000 reward was being offered to anyone who can provide more information leading to the prosecution of the couple involved in abandoning the horse by the side of the road. The reward money was donated by a member of the public.

“There is currently conflicting information on this,” said Wetnose animal rescue centre spokesperson Debbie Buys.

“This makes it difficult to catch the perpetrators.

“What we do know is they used a hired trailer to transport Zulu.”

Over the past weekend, Zulu’s health took a turn for the better after he got on his feet again.

Anyone with more info, can phone the Wet Nose rescue centre on 013-932-3941.
